Alandale Retirement Village in Flagstaff, Hamilton is "located on the banks of the Waikato river". Tree-lined avenues and spacious sections allow residents to make the most of their own space. Alandale is described as "a unique community in that you get the added benefit of owning your unit title, rather than a licence to occupy".
Owning the title means that the house is yours. You're free to renovate & change your home, to suit your needs. Then when it comes time to sell, you can elect your own agent and reap the rewards of capital gains made on a sale price.
Alandale Village was built in 1988, with the final stages being completed in 1996. Village administration was then taken over by the Alandale Foundation Board. The Board owns the land on which the central Club complex of the Village is situated and operates the Village under Alandale Lifecare Ltd. The Boards Trustees are appointed by the residents and include both resident and non-resident trustees.
Alandale consists of mainly 2 bedroom villas and a very small number of 3 bedroom villas.

A Home from Home
5 / 5 ★Management are always open to suggestions when they come up, and will stop and have a chat regardless of how busy they are. We are aware that there have been changes in the time we have been here and most people remark on the quality of improvements which are continuing and how lovely the village looks.

An Oasis of Calm
4 / 5 ★Nice village. An oasis of calm in a busy city. Flagstaff shopping centre across from village gates. Chemist, medical centre, opticians, dentist, vet, general store, bus stops by the gates. Excellent venue. Nice neighbours!! Older village, well established, English village "feel"

No longer what it once was!
1 / 5 ★I would suggest anyone looking to buy into, or send a loved one here does their research first. Search for newspaper articles around 2020 to see how some residents were treated when their privately owned homes were in the way of a new development. Sadly residents never have a bad thing to say regardless, I guess to protect their own homes value or through fear of the bulldozers turning up outside their home next...
