Facility Response: Sorry to hear your comments are not all positive.<br /> Since 2020, we have had a full change in management in the village & we would hope you would feel differently about the village now.<br /> The cost for the van outings are now subsidized by the Trust Board and donations from the House of Treasures. <br /> The weekly fees are kept as low as possible, but the cost of living continues to rise which impacts them greatly, as well as the rates which are around half of the weekly fees. The Trust Board has been partially subsidizing them for the last few years, to assist the impact to the residents.<br /> The village ORA (Occupational Rights Agreement) has been amended in 2024, all existing residents have been offered the opportunity to switch to the new ORA, which now offers fixed fees. This helps residents to budget their expenditure, and allows more flexibility, as the pension increase does not keep pace with the increase in cost of living.<br /> We would hope you would feel differently about the village now.

Facility Response: Sorry to hear your comments are not all positive.<br /> Since 2020, we have had a full change in management in the village & we would hope you would feel differently about the village now.<br /> The village ORA (Occupational Rights Agreement) has been amended in 2024, with the 'admin fee' upon exit of the village being reduced to 2.5%, the exit fee (village contribution) has since been increased.<br /> Apārangi Village is one of the few retirement villages who offer capital gains upon the sale of the home, the exit fee (village contribution) is always invested back into the village as we are a not for profit charitable trust. The care unit is fully self-funded, none of the village fees are used in the care unit. This is fully transparent to residents in our financials documents.<br /> The gardens surrounding the homes are the residents responsibility, they are welcome to get in external help, or we can turn the gardens back to grass.<br /> We have 9 maintenance team members who work hard to keep the grounds looking tidy, this includes edging throughout the village.<br /> The CEO & Village Manager now attend every monthly AVRA (Apārangi Village Residents Association) meeting. We feel this is sufficient as the Trust Board members give their time voluntarily in amongst their working time.

Facility Response: Sorry to hear your comments are not all positive.<br /> Since 2020, we have had a full change in management in the village.<br /> The speed limit has been lowered to 20kph in the village, and additional pathways have been added in the village, with more planned.<br /> Te Kauwhata has everything required day to day - supermarket, doctors, pharmacy, bakeries, greengrocer, post shop, library - all within walking distance to the village. The Te Kauwhata community house can provide a volunteer driver for appointments to Waikato or Thames hospital, and the local bus can take you to Pukekohe for the day.<br /> The weekly fees are kept as low as possible, but the cost of living continues to rise which impacts them greatly, as well as the rates which are around half of the weekly fees. The village & care unit has been refreshed and is vastly improved from how it was 5 years ago.<br /> We would hope you would feel differently about the village now.

The doctors surgery and pharmacy are only walking distance from the village, and if/when more assistance is required, the GP can start the referral process for assistance at home. Apārangi also has a 59 bed rest home & hospital level care unit onsite, if the transition is ever required in the future.

This will now be an ongoing refresh every year.<br /> The management team are very involved in the village these days, hosting BBQ's, Quizzes, Dances, Christmas & Mid-Year Christmas dinners and much more. A social coordinator is to be hired shortly, so there will be more activities & interactions in the village for residents to feel as involved as they wish.
