Possum Bourne Retirement Village in Pukekohe, Auckland is a another excellent Ryman Village with a range of independent living options and continuum of care (rest home, hospital and dementia level) available, if required. Located on Valley Road, this retirement village is in peaceful surroundings and near to the Pukekohe town centre. Townhouses, apartments, serviced apartments, and the care centre comes with 'resort-style facilities' which include a petanque court, indoor heated swimming pool, spa, library, gymnasium, hair and beauty salon, bar, shop, movie theatre and an all-weather bowling green. The village gets its name Possum Bourne from the late, Peter Raymond George "Possum" Bourne (13 April 1956- 30 April 2003) - the New Zealand champion rally car driver - three-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and seven times consecutively Australian Rally Champion, amongst other titles. Peter got his name his nickname, "Possum", when he crashed his mother's car, while trying to avoid a possum in the middle of the road.

Staff need REAL training in empathy and care
2 / 5 ★Hire more people who genuinely care about the residents and don't just look at them as a paycheck and make residents feel like they are to much of an issue to look after. More variety of culture of staff would be appreciated. STOP SPEAKING OTHER LANGUAGES THAT RESIDENTS CANT UNDERSTAND IT IS RUDE.
