5 / 5 ★My wife and I moved into an apartment in early 2016 as having lived at Pakuranga for 42 years, then retiring to Maungaturoto in 2002. [Due to health needs], we had to get closer to Auckland Hospital. Getting a village apartment was much less travel from Maungaturoto. I am now in a care suite. (eds.)

Great village pity about autocratic headoffice
4 / 5 ★It would be a 10 if it were not for [what I see as] increasing direction from head office. Furniture, food, entertainment and other activities are selected [centrally by head office] and increasingly [implemented across] all villages. Local initiatives are becoming more restricted to approved entertainment. We cannot even have adequate acoustic treatment of communal rooms or covered walkways because [I understand there are concerns about maintaining the village's overall design and appearance.]

3 / 5 ★Community area is undersized for the community and acoustics are very poor design and a number of occupants can no longer attend as noise levels are too great.
Stay in your own home if you can!
2 / 5 ★Listen to the villages. Be open and receptive. Implement simple strategies upon request. Provide suitable food for older people, not fatty, dry hard to digest boring 3 veges and meat. Where is the fruit and fresh veges?

2 / 5 ★Ensure food meets dietry needs and is palatable. Ensure help is what and when needed. Ensure personal resident costs are kept to a minimum. Outdoor shade and seating. No charge for parking. Better front line management.
