The right move to make
4 / 5 ★I have a lovely apartment, with the bonus of a view of the harbour. The other residents are friendly and helpful, as are the staff. It has taken a year to get used to life here, but I know it was the right move to make. A good place when you live alone.
I enjoy living here in Malvina
4 / 5 ★I enjoy living here in Malvina, however [in my opinion] the retirement village does need to be reminded that it is caring for elderly people and not just a means to create a return for shareholders. (eds.)
Double glazing promised
4 / 5 ★Some folk were promised double glazing since coming here 17 yrs ago. This is still a health issue for some people where dampness is an issue.

Paying More for Less Now
3 / 5 ★I have little problem making friends so social interaction is not a problem. The large conglomerate that owns our village sees profits ahead of its residents. This has to change. We are paying a large amount for less now. Nice apartment. I feel safe but retirement villages have lost their shine.

External maintenance is good
3 / 5 ★Maintenance external -it is good not to have this worrying responsibility. Gardens are nicely maintained, lawns kept mowed and tidy. Outings and activities are arranged, but no evening outings - (circa, ballet etc)

I love my apartment
3 / 5 ★I love my apartment and the residents but the high turnover of staff is unsettling. The standard and choice of activities has dropped considerably over the last five years which in turn has affected the attitude of all independent residents . The area of most concern however is management, while our manager is friendly he appears more comfortable working the care centre and service apartments and our needs are rarely met. [in my opinion] (eds) This is not the happy retirement village I once knew
