The Archer website says that the Thorrington Lifestyle Village in Christchurch is Archer's latest edition to the Archer family. Nestled under the Port hills in Thorrington, is both a Retirement Village and Residential Home (previously known as Santa Maria Retirement Village and Rest Home).
The site also states that Thorrington Village comprises of 31 villas, with a combination of two and bedroom villas, some with walk-in garages, and some with a carport available.
Thorrington Village also has 13 serviced Studios that are attached to the Thorrington Home. These Studios provide for a higher level of assisted care and support as required. Residents can also receive rest home care into their studio, when this has been assessed as necessary. It therefore offers a degree of choice and freedom being able to personalise the level of care and support required.

4 / 5 ★We have a new admin team who are keen to impress with their expertise and not so keen to learn from us! Great to know training is available but need to see the results. There is a feeling that we are seen as a bit inferior and must be ordered around.

No Buses Anymore

The bus issue is beyond our control ,and to help residents we now offer a free weekly shopping bus to take our residents to the Malls. Are you aware there is an Orbiter bus stop 8 minutes walk away which will take you to Eastgate Mall, The Palms or around the city?<br />
We are sorry you have felt that repairs are not completed in a timely manner. Please ensure your request is written into our Maintenance Book at Reception, and if the request is not resolved come and inform our Site Manager who will ensure the repair is sorted promptly.

You haven't got your facts quite right in your review. There are studio apartments available alongside villas and staff are on-site during office hours. You correctly say that the dementia support has been relocated to Archer Beckenham alongside our Rest Home, Hospital, Memory Support & Respite Care Home, located just 6min away.

2 / 5 ★I moved here because it was a familiar area for husband with dementia & there was both care & dementia facilities. [I feel] Those have now been withdrawn so I am "TRAPPED" to move. I have to sell & wait upwards of a year for payout.

The creation of a clinical hub located at Archer Beckenham will not diminish the care residents receive but the opposite, a wider range of care for more residents will be available.<br />
You're also misinformed about the length of time it takes to relicense villas in Archer villages, the average currently is around six months with over 65% going under offer, with deposits paid, before refurbishment is even complete.<br />
